Whether you’re a fresh graduate or someone who has been in the profession in quite a long time, it’s not always easy to get hired. Most of the time, you get to be rejected and let’s just say it hurts a bit, and not to mention the stress it brings especially if you’re a newbie.
Here are five tips for new nurses to help you land a job, your first job, in a profession you’ve wished so hard to be part of for years.
Have the mindset of a successful RN
Just because you’ve just graduated doesn’t mean you have to look down on yourself. Look at you, you’ve come this far. Visualize what a successful nurse you’re going to be and gain confidence by doing so. Start saying “I can do it” and be assertive instead of hiding in your shell. Just the right amount of confidence when looking and applying for a job goes a long way.
Vamp up your resume
Never underestimate your resume. It’s the first thing your employer sees, so you better make it worth reading. Market yourself. Give it your best shot and your employer will be most likely to consider hiring you. Make it as pleasing as it could get that it would feel like a loss to them if they don’t hire you. Put everything relevant in there. Don’t be shy, show your edge, include all your trainings, seminars and special skills in your resume. Make them see what an asset you could be and how fit you are for the job.
Volunteer as much as you can
Don’t think of this as unworthy of your time and is something boring to do because you don’t get paid. Volunteering earns extra points. Once a company sees that you’ve once volunteered for them, they are more likely to look at you more thoroughly.
Network
Go out there and meet people. But look all professional when doing so. Attend meetings, join organizations and special associations that may interest you. Look up conventions and conferences. By doing so, you might be able to meet departmental heads and develop professional relationships. Also, have a business card ready with your contact information on it. Make connections. Network!
Present yourself well during the interview
Present yourself professionally and not just someone who, as they, is just “looking for a job”. Dress appropriately and professionally, answer questions confidently. It would be a great help if you make some research on the most commonly asked questions during interviews to prepare you. Practice your answers to numerous questions about yourself, your experience, your career goals and your skills. And oh, BE PUNCTUAL. Arrive on time for the interview
I was diagnosed as HEPATITIS B carrier in 2013 with fibrosis of the
BalasHapusliver already present. I started on antiviral medications which
reduced the viral load initially. After a couple of years the virus
became resistant. I started on HEPATITIS B Herbal treatment from
ULTIMATE LIFE CLINIC (www.ultimatelifeclinic.com) in March, 2020. Their
treatment totally reversed the virus. I did another blood test after
the 6 months long treatment and tested negative to the virus. Amazing
treatment! This treatment is a breakthrough for all HBV carriers.
